Macrame 101 Workshop with Shakti Weaver !

Want to learn to use your hands and make some art?
Macrame has a long history dating back to the 13th century in Arab and Turkish arts and clothing. It made its way to our cultural awareness in the 1970’s, with a recent revival as hip, bohemian influenced visual art and practical art. I started creating wall hangings and plant pods in 2017, fell in love with the texture, color, cotton, and driftwood, and I haven’t stopped.
In this 3 hour workshop, you’ll learn the basic knots, receive all the materials including design ideas, and make your own wall hanging. I’m hoping you get the “bug” too and start making!
Date: Saturday October 20th, 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Location: Abhaya Yoga Gowanus – 49D 9th Street, between Smith and 2nd Ave. (F train to Smith / 9th St.)
Cost: $65 per person, includes all materials. Light beverages and snacks served.
